At first glance, The Cathedral and The Lesson seem to have postal code in common, simply the characters in these stories are both conclusion their identity and discovering themselves for the first time. The nararator seems like a lonely man that is reasonably depressed and close-minded. After dinner party the nararator and Robert finally have solely time to get to last each other.
